The entertainment industry all over the world is one of the largest employers of labour and commands a huge population of followership. In Africa, Nigeria is the largest and strongest player in the entertainment industry. The entertainment industry in Nigeria has so many branches which include, Musicians, Comedians, DJs, Dancers and also the movie industry, popularly known as Nollywood.
Nollywood is among the largest employers of labour, both direct and indirect especially the youths.
Identifying, encouragement and rewarding of practitioners in the industry and other bodies Corporate and individuals that have kept the industry moving and becomes a necessity. Nollywood Golden Award started in the year 2007 and have continue to hold her annual event every last Saturday in October of each year in Agbor, Delta State of Nigeria. Nollywood Golden Award is a registered organization with Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja as a limited company with the aims and objectives to carry on the business of entertainment services, to build up actors, actresses, promote movies/music, organize variety shows, fun, organize Annual Awards and Lectures, carnivals, movies decorators, etc. The Nollywood National Secretariat is located at No. 4, Edoki Street, Near Edo Guest House, Alihame-Agbor, Delta State. Nollywood Golden Awards is gradually becoming a global phenomenon that has transcended Nigerian shores as we currently having 18 African countries, 3 European countries and representatives from United States Movie Practitioners. Hence, it is now coined ‘NOLLYWOOD AFRICAN GOLDEN AWARDS”.
